1/2 pint milk
1/2 pint breadcrumbs
2 eggs
2 or 3 tablespoons jam
1 oz. butter
1 lemon
2 oz. Castor Sugar

Boil the milk with the butter and pour over breadcrumbs.  Let it soak for a few minutes, then add the yolks of the eggs, the grated rind of the lemon and the sugar. Pour into a buttered baking dish or casserole and bake until seet.  Then take out of the oven, and cover with the jam.  Make a meringue of the whites of the eggs and spread over the top.  Bake in oven until top is a pale brown.
