ORANGE LIQUOR

 

 

12 oranges
1/4 pint rum
3 lbs. sugar

Peel oranges and remove pits, then quarter and remove pips.  Place layer of oranges in earthenware jar—adding a layer of sugar and a layer of orange pulp until both are used up.  Leave in a warm place for a week, then strain off juice.  Add rum or brandy and pour into bottles ready for use.
