FROZEN FRUITED COOKIES

1 cup shortening
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup finely cut dates
1/2 cup finely cut candied cherries.

(Finely chopped nuts may be used also)


Cream the shortening and sugar together.  Add the well beaten eggs.  Sift the flour, measure it and sift with the soda, salt, and cinnamon.  Add the fruit and combine with first mixture.  Shape into a roll about 2" wide.  Freeze and slice about 1/4" thick.  Bake at 400 degrees (hot oven)  Quantity: 40 cookies.

(The fruit must be cut fine in order to slice the cookie without breaking it.  Use a SHARP thin knife for slicing.  finely chopped peanuts may be used in place of fruit.
