CHERRY BREAD

Ingredients:

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp melted lard or Crisco
3 cups sifted flour
3 tsp baking power
1 8oz. bottle maraschino cherries, cut in halves (1 scant cupful)


Beat whole eggs until very light.  Add sugar and beat again; add milk.  Sift all dry ingredients, to which cherries can be added.  Combine with first mixture and add melted fat.  Beat well and pour into a well oiled bread pan.

Bake one hour in a moderate oven at 350 degrees.

Remove from pan about 3 minutes after taking from oven as steam will assist in removing from pan.  Press around edges with knife also.
