Sour Cream Coffee Cake


1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
6 Tbsp. soft butter
1 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 pt. sour cream

Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla.  Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

Sift flour, baking powder and soda together.  Add to creamed mixture, alternately with sour cream, blending after each addition.  Spread 1/2 of the batter into a 10 inch tube pan which has been greased and lined with waxed paper.

Cream together butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and nuts.  Dot one half of the butter mixture evenly over batter in pan.  Cover with remaining batter.  Dot with remaining butter mixture.

Bake at 350 for 50 minutes.  Serve warm.   (Freezes very well).
