Asparagus Surprise Casserole

2 lb. ground beef
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 lb. cheddar cheese, grated
2-3 lb. freshly mashed potatoes
garlic to taste
1 large onion, diced
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
3 cans asparagus
onion salt to taste
salt and pepper to taste

Brown ground beef and onions, add oregano, garlic, onion salt, salt and pepper to taste.   Place in large casserole dish in layers as follows:  mean, asparagus, 1/2 of the cheese, undiluted mushroom soup, mashed potatoes, 1/2 of the cheese.

Bake at 350 for 35 minutes.
