Sub Found in the Perlas Islands
This sub was found on San Elmo Island in the
Perlas Islands. It is a Civil War era sub invented by Julius Kroehl in 1865 and
brought down to Panama in 1867 for pearl diving. This was recovered by James Delgado of the Vancouver
Maritime museum. Mr. Delgado found plans for the "Sub Marine Explore"
in a 1902 article of the history of U.S. submarine development in the
JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF NAVAL ENGINEERS.
