|The structure built into Sosa Hill

entrance gate was, after the war, converted to the Emergency Operations Center for the Governor's Office. It contained emergency rations and water, a generator, sleeping facilities for the key staff, a communications room with a Single Side Band radio and a Operations room. The room was under the direction of the Civil Defense Director.
Originally, that structure, one built into the same hill as the Panama Railroad tunnel at Miraflores, and another in Gatun were for emergency generators and switching systems. They were originally rail mounted, therefore the remnants of rail spurs into each of the tunnels.
