As I recall, he was very generous and many members of the track team enjoyed several nice dinners at the "Y". Another memory I have of the "Y" was when a church youth group I was a member of had a swim party there and the minister was on the diving board and wearing a jockey style swim suit didn't know that he was "dressed left" as he stood on the board and everyone was thinking, "please hurry and dive in reverend". What a nice picture and fond memories it brings back. |

It brought back memories of rare sunset on the causeway, probably visually enhanced by a generous quantity of Cerveza Panama. As I stood, rapt by the sunset, some idiot pierced in numerous places on his body walked by and asked what I was staring at. Perhaps it is condescending of me, but I don't usually respond to questions from lower life forms but in this case I said in perfect english "I'm sorry, I don't speak your language." It was true. How could I tell him about the wellspring of memories that sunset brought back, parakeets shrieking in the palm trees in Coco Solo at sunset, warm rain, spectacular dry season skies. We are lucky people. I hope everyone realizes it. |
