Madden
Dam

| The first of what was to be a long list of multi-million dollar improvement projects to the Panama Canal began with the construction of Madden Dam across the upper Chagres River. Completed in 1936, the massive masonry structure created a reservoir as a safeguard against water shortage during the dry season, December through April. |
