Comments Has it really been 21 years since walking across the stage on the third floor of CHS? As this years reunion approaches I am perplexed with this thought, for this year, even more so than last, friends from the past are gathering in Orlando. Who has changed and how? Growing up on the Atlantic side, with our 1 blinking red traffic light at the four corners and the Gatun Club house; The Mindi riding stables and the Lighthouse road; The parties out at Fort Randolf on Friday nights and the Bike races down the Airstrip. Names like Ricky Chappell, George Daniels, Steve Proctor come to mind.
It was truly a crazy time that is immortal, for it lives within us forever.

Comments I was stationed at Fort Gulick from 1968 to 1970. I came back to Panama in June of 1993, we lived in Fort Kobbe until 1997. Reading some of the comments made me remember what a wonderful time my family and I had in Panama. I plan to go back and go fishing for stripped bass while drinking a cold panama beer. My favorite fishing spot for Tuna and Wahoo was Pedasi. Those were the days!

Comments As I was engaged in a violent and fanged discussion of a political nature with my good buddies Lachesis Muta and Bothrops Atrox, we hit on a neurotoxic topic concerning chiva and/or non-chiva autobus projectiles. Seems we couldn't agree on which of the 3 named examples was the best missile: a) meteorite mangoes, b) atomic almonds, or c) cannonball calabash. I guess it all depended on the amount of damage one was trying to achieve for the particular adventure. So anyway, Lachy tells me his brain been botherin' him and could I help him take it out. So I said, "Sure!" Then we both threw back a pint of Herrerrano and I secured a scalpel from my Cozmic Surgeon's kit and as I prepared to make the first cut, Bothrops started a rythm with a slap on his MONGO LP conga and Lachy starts to sing:.....

Comments My older sister, husband and friends sailed thru the canal two years ago and during a recent conversation I had some questions that they were unable to answer. Thanks to all the work completed on this site I found a few of them. Now I'm in awe and a bit ashamed that I was unaware of the dedication that went into this massive project during the 19th century. (I suppose there were a few lessons that faded from my memory)

I still have one question: Is there two way traffic thru the canal and locks each day or does the it go thru on alternative days??? If anyone can give me that answer I would be very grateful. Thank you, CC

Comments My father was stationed in the Zone from 1977 to 1982, and flew Chinooks out of Albrook AF Base. We lived in Curundu, but I can't remember the name of the street. I remember it was only a street or two away from Clay Hill, where my brother and I got in -much- trouble! I attended Los Rios Elementary School, and distinctly remember Mr. Rosenberg's 6th Grade class. He taught me cribbage and backgammon during lunch. My best friend, Jon Vickery, caught a Royal Blue butterfly for me for my 13th birthday, which hangs still in my house. I have not been to Panama since 1982.

Living in panama was the best time of my life. The best part about it was chillin with everyone at CURUNDU JR HIGH and KOBBE ELEMENTRY!!

Comments I held out in Panama as long as I could until finally had to leave (Jan.01)as an "economic refugee" via environmental specialist with Dept. of Health, Broward County. Hooked a job recently (May 01) with the Navy in NAVSTARR as Environmental Protection Specialist. NAVSTARR and PR is very much like Panama DoD installations with tropical environment and climate (and more so with well small but organized anti-military/Viegues bombing range sentiment.) If the feds close this base down, it will go the way Panama is now, economically worse off. No mo'$250,000,000 that NAVSTARR contributes to the economy of PR.
